     I am now 64 years old (in 2003).  I started Judo at the age of 28 years old (1967).   I taught a Judo class for many years for the Decatur Parks and Recreation Department in Decatur, Alabama.  During this time I formed the Decatur Judo Club and competed in tournaments throughout the Southeastern States including Alabama, Mississippi, Tennesee, Georgia, Kentucky, and North Carolina.  I placed first place in my weight division in many of the tournaments throughout my years of competition.  The high point of my competition was when I earned Grand Champion over the Champions of all weight divisions during a tournament held on the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
