The following loose guidelines are assuming that those pursuing SNK are part of a school taught by a sensei trained extensively in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, Japanese or Okinawan Karate. These guidelines are flexible but they need to be extensively covered. Sparring and fighting / self defense training should be conducted at each belt level. |

Yellow Belt : basic blocks (low, high, inward, outward) basic strikes (punch, backfist) basic kicks (front, roundhouse, side) basic forms (from a style listed above to this belt level) |

Orange Belt: basic blocks (cover basic fundamental used in forms for this level) basic strikes (cover basic fundamental used in forms for this level) basic kicks (turn back snap kick, application of all kicks learned) basic forms (from a style listed above to this belt level) |

Green Belt: all basic blocks/strikes/kicks covered in forms to this belt level. (please note that the student typically learns a new form at each belt level.) |

Blue Belt: All basic blocks/strikes/kicks covered in all forms to this belt level. (intensify fighting ability and cover martial arts history some) |

Purple Belt: All basic blocks/strikes/kicks covered in all forms to this belt level. tournament experience in some form of fighting would be smart at or before this level. |

Brown Belts: there are 3 levels (about 6 months of training in each one) All basic blocks/strikes/kicks covered in all forms to this belt level. tournament experience in forms and fighting would be smart at and during these levels.

Black Belt (Shodan) for adults (Shodan Ho) for ages 12 and younger (Jr. Black Belt) All basic blocks/strikes/kicks covered in all forms to this belt level. Total time of 3 years experience, training in how to teach, stress good conduct. Insure that anyone making black belt is proficient without question. |

Dan belts exceeding shodan must show advancement in skill, not just time in grade or just additional forms. |
